Isaac served as a private in the Vermont militia in Capt. Simeon's Wright Co. on 1778 Nov 07 for seven days. He served in Capt.Tehan Noble's Co., of militia for 53 days in the late spring of 1779. He returned to the first militia again for seven days in March of 1780. He was part of Capt. Samuel Allen's Co. of volunteers for 23 days ending on 1780 Nov 04. He immediately served the next seven days in Capt. Nathaniel Blanchard's Co., ending on 1780 Nov 12. He waswith this company for ten days ending on 1781 Oct 30 at Castleton. [RSRW, 97, 127-128, 155, 296, 300, 470, 830].

Isaac lived in Nine Partners, NY and later moved to Rutland Township, VT with his parents by 1769 [SPM p.32]. He was appointed as guardian with his mother, Tryphena, to his younger brothers and sisters Lydia, Mary, Dorcas, Peter, Josiah and Sinthy [Cynthia], all under the age of 14 [Rutland District PR, #75, dated 1785 May 19].

Isaac probably used the inheritance he received from his father's estate [PR, op.cit.] to purchase land in Cornwall Township on 1786 [Cornwall, 90]. On 1795 Mar 28, Isaac sold his land in Cornwall to Jacob Ingraham for 180 [LR, 3: 165-166] and later on 1800 Feb 4, purchased 50 acres land in property in Addison from Caleb Pratt for $333 being the original right of Matthew Sears in the 2nd division [LR, 2: 2 64]. Isaac's last transaction in Addison was to sell 3 acres of land on 1823 Jul 07 to Joseph Spencer for $60 [LR, 6: 291, 392]. On 1830 Dec 03, Isaac's son Daniel sold Isaac's farm in Addison to Gideon Carpenter for $650 [LR, 9: 20].

Isaac's estate inventory on 1825 Jun 25, which included his personal estate totaling $151.98 and his real estate including 50 acres of land, house and barn, animals and farming equipment amounted to $1,074.18 [Addison District PR, #2523].

There was confusion over the name of Isaac's wife. His probate record [supravide] clearly stated her name as Sarah. His military record [Fisher, 350] named her as Polly and suggested there was an unnamed second wife. W.V.
