Well it is a very interesting family Martha Beemer was apart of. The Can adian archives have Martha Beemer marrying Richard Silverthorn on Oct 2 0 1834.She was born in 1816 to Joseph and Mary Beemer. Her brother Jaco b Beemer was a witness to her wedding. Jacob and the other family member s Joseph, brother David, Alexander and possibly William ran the local tav ern. This tavern was just an extension to their house. They were all hand y as carpenters too. Here much of the meetings for the Canadian revolt o f 1838 took place. Jacob was one of the worst offenders. He has a page gi ven to him in the Canadian biographies dictionary online. He was eventual ly transported to Tasmania, then Van Diemens Land and spent the remainde r of his life there. Joseph the father was given bail and a years good be haviour bond. David was lucky to escape prosecution. The family, fearin g reprisals from a bitter pro English system decided to migrate back to t he USA. They moved to Ohio, then Indiana. Most of the family remained i n Porter or Valparaiso. In respect for their lost brother, both Alexande r and David named their next son Jacob. Jacob in Australia married and na med his children, Katherine, Charlotte, Charles Joseph, Martha and Loisa . These being the names of wives and his sister and father except Charlot te who I havent placed yet. I am a descendant of Charles Joseph. I gathe r Martha and Margaret then are one and the same. She may have been a Mart ha Margaret or just changed her name out of fancy. I have that she died i n 1843. This may have been childbirth. As yet I havent been able to trac e a Martha Beemer in Australia. Records for free settlers wasnt kept an d deaths were very numerous. Every second child died. I gather Martha ha d 4 children. If you have details about how she came by the name of Marga ret please let me know

      Re: Beemer Family

Sorry to confuse you. I am Margaret Beemer in Australia and I am the on e writing this family tree from this perspective in Australia going bac k from Jacob who was here from 1840 as a convict. He bigamously marrie d a number of times here. His children were Katherine Charlotte Charles J oseph, Martha and Louisa. He named them after his family he left behind . The Martha in Australia was not your Martha but Jacob's daughter. It se emes likely that joseph Beemer married a Mary Sovereen. Their children we re David S, Jacob R, Possibly William, Martha, Thomas and Sophia at thi s stage of my search. I havent ruled out that the last two were actuall y those of Jacobs who was transported as their death records from here se em incomplete. Mary Sovereen father was David sovereen and her mother wa s Anne Rarick. There is a file on family tree for Mary Sover een. David S as the eldest child seems likely. It all fits nicely. If I d o get this together it will be the size of a novel. I'll send you the dra ft. Regards Marg
