I., pp. 418-20), son and heir of William, third Baron Braose, lord of Brecknock, Gower, etc., in Wales, of whose troubles with King John there are several versions, d. in France in 1212. William de Braose "had a daughter to R., Earl of Clare, with whom he had taken the town of Buckingham, in frank marriage"
