Margaret was the only daughter of the four children born to Sir Walter and his wife. Their eldest son, John inherited the barony and the quite considerable estates from their father on his death in 1329. The youngest son, Thomas fought at the battle of Crecy in 1346 alongside his sister Margaret's husband, Robert de Ufford, first earl of Suffolk.
