It seems that both the Ramsays and the Learmonths had lands at Clatto:
James Learmonth of Dairsie, 1st of Balcomie (d Pinkie 10 Sep 1547), son of David Learmonth of Clatto and Dairsie, Provost of St. Andrews (d 28 Feb 1526) married (c1520) Katherine Ramsay (of Clatto).
By the thirteenth century there were five major branches of the Ramsay clan: Dalhousie; Auchterhouse; Banff; Forfar; and Clatto.
Some say he married Katerina Carnegie, but is that confusion for David Ramsay of Balmain (abt 1550-1625) who married Catherine Carnegie?
