A knightly family in medieval Wiltshire 1086-1382. Ralph de Scudemer (circa 1040 France - ) came to the castle Ewyas Harold, Herefordshire, England, as a guard for Alfred de Marlborough, sometime between its construction in 1052 and its fortification in 1071. Ralph, a Norman in England before the conquest, is the presumed ancestor of most persons with the name Scudemore and its variants including Skipmore.
There were three sons, Reginald, Walter, and Hugh, and a stepson Rainald (son of Erkembald fitz Erkembald).
