    RUDING, of Martin Hussingtree, The Wall-house, Hanbury, and Droitwich; also of Westcotes, co. Leicester. This family, says Nichols, appears to have been very negilgent in not entering its pedigree at the Heralds? office. The estates of Beoley, Feckenham, Hanbury, and Martin Hussingtree, were taken out of the family by heiresses, one of whom married Walter Graunt, ...
    On the tomb of Richard Ruding, of Leicestershire, who died in 1582, are the Ruding arms quartering Clerke and Watercroft, and as neither of them are the arms of his mother who was a Purefoy, and no wife is mentioned to his grandfather (the William who heads the pedigree, they must have been brought in at an earlier date.

    His other daughter and co-heir Margaret who married John Martin of Wiche.
    Humphrey is not recorded in the Visitation of Worcestershire 1569 because by then his descendants were in Bedfordshire and Snitterfield or Northamptonshire.
    1. Margaret Rudinge "one of the co-heirs of Humphrey Rudinge of Wiche" and wife of John Martin of Wiche is mentioned in the Visitation of Bedfordshire 1566 p 40, where the Martins of Wiche were then resident (pages attached).
    2. Humphrey Rudinge is mentioned in various Burke's Landed Gentry as father to Margaret wife of John Martin of Wiche.
    In the 1871 edition (pages attached from B LG GBI 1871) Margaret is specifically referred to as "dau. and co-heir (with her sister Elizabeth Rudinge, wife of Walter Grant Esq.) of Humphrey Rudinge, Esq. of Wiche".
    Thomas Habington in his "A survey of Worcestershire" created in the 1630s (pages attached) said that the Wiche or Droitwich was noted in Roman and medieval times for the lucrative saltwater springs or "phates".
    On p. 306 he reports that Humfrey Rudinge sold phates to Humfrey Coningsby and John Butler.
    On p. 308 he reports that John Marten (of Wiche) had two phates by two wives, Elizabeth daughter of William Bachtote and Margaret daughter of Humfrey Rudinge.
    4. Grazebrook Heraldry of Worcestershire 1873 reports on p 369 that John Martin (of Wiche) living in the 16th Century married Margaret daughter and co-heir of Humphrey Rudinge of Wiche, and on p 474 that Humphrey or Hugh Rudinge of Wiche had two daughters and co-heiresses: Margaret wife of John Martin and Elizabeth married to Walter Graunt of Snitterfield co Warwick.

    Above the monument at Beoley on both faces are large shields of Sheldon quartering Ruding, Heath and Grove, brought in by the grandmother of William Sheldon, the heiress of Ruding and his mother Philippa Heath, daughter and co-heir of Baldwin Heath of Ford Hall.
