Lincoln whose widow Mary (d 2 Feb 1459) married Sir John Heron, of Northumberland, and William Clinton, 4th Lord of Maxstoke (b 14 Sep 1377, d 30 July 1431/2). --- Of Carlton Paynel and Castlethorpe, Lincolnshire. --- Henry Retford, Knight was Sheriff of Lincolnshire in 1456. --- And a Sir Henry Redford was Sheriff of Lincolnshire in 1406. (Not the same man as Elizabeth?s father.) --- A Sir Henry Retford was sheriff of Lincs in 1389, 1392- 93, 1397-98 and 1406-07 (Early Yorkshire Charters page 269) --- A Sir Henry Retford was killed in the battle of Wakefield, December 30, 1460. That man could not be the same Sir Henry Retford whose widow Mary married William Clinton, as she died 2 Feb 1458/9. --- DNB has bio of a Sir Henry Retford or Redford (c.1354?1409), soldier and speaker of the House of Commons in 1402. --- See: J.S.
