Name: Eleanor de Furnival
Birth: ABT 1256 in Sheffield, Yorkshire
Death: AFT 1303
Change Date: 6 MAR 2007
CP account of John de Verdon (d. bef 23 April 1295):
"He m., before 1276, Eleanor, da. of Sir Thomas de Furnivalle, of Sheffield, Yorks. He d. shortly before 23 Apr. 1295, aged 38. Eleanor was granted dower and had lic., 17 Mar. 1295/6, to m. Richard de Breuse. She was living as his wife (1302-03), 31 Edw. I, but the date of her death is not known. (e) "
This 2nd marriage of Eleanor de Furnival has evidently gone unnoticed until now, at least with regard to the de Breuse marriage; the references in CP XII/2:243, note (e) including the Suffolk Feet of Fines citations (not seen) and refers the reader specifically to the Breuse account at CP II:304, incl. note (i), making it quite clear that her 2nd husband was in fact Sir Richard de Breuse of Stradbroke.
