Name: Jane Roberts
Death: ABT 1575
Burial: Windsor, Berks: St. George's Chapel - Bray chapel
Change Date: 6 MAR 2012
Coheir of father.
Sir William bequeathed the manor of Burghclere, Hants, to his wife Jane for life, and after her death to his three younger daughters, whose respective husbands are found each holding a third part.
Jane, daughter of John Roberts (son of Walter Roberts of Glassenbury, Co. Kent) by Mary, daughter of Richard Sackville. She resided, as William FitzWilliam?s relict, at Chertsey, and her will was proved in 1575, when she desired to be buried near her husband in Sir Reginald Bray's chapel.
The will of Jane Lady Fitzwilliam affords one of the many instances of the curious compound of bequests made at that period ? jewellery, great bowls of silver, feather-beds, spits, and brass pots!
