  • ID: I27559
  • Name: Richard de Lomene
  • Prefix: Sir 1
  • Sex: M
  • Birth: 1232
  • Residence: Uplowman, Devonshire, England
  • Note:

Soon after the Conquest, Gittisham, including Combe House and its estate, came into the possession
of the De Lowman family, who seem to have been considerable landowners at that time. Their
principal estate appears to have been Uplowman, on the banks of the river Lowman, from which the
family presumably derived their name. This property also had previously belonged to Gosceline, but we do not know whether the de Lowmans inherited it, or whether it was a gift from William the
Conqueror. Towards the end of the 15th century all the De Lowman property passed by inheritance
to the Willington family. The name of Lowman lives on to this day in Lowman?s farm, in the Honiton
    valley.
(History of Gittisham and Combe House, by Mrs Marker ? 4th November 1954)
If it was ?towards the end of the 15th century? that the Willingtons inherited from the de Lowmans, then Juliana presumably was not the heiress. But I suspect Mrs Marker may have her dates muddled.
