    Pyellane. Parrish church of Saint Mary Summerset.; Summers Hithe. Queen?s Hithe Ward
    Richard Gray Ironmonger, one of the shiriffes, one thousand five hundred and fifteene [1515] , gave forty pound to that church, and was buried there. At the West end of that church goeth vp a lane, called Pyellane. On the same North side, at the South end of Saint Mary Mounthaunt Lane, is the Parrish Church of Saint Mary Summerset, ouer against the Broken Wharfe: it is a proper church, but the monumentes are all defaced. I thinke the same to bee of olde time called Summers Hith, of some mans name that was owner of the grounde neare adioyning, as Edreds Hithe was so called of Edred owner thereof, and sithence called Queene Hith, as pertayning to the Queene, &c.
    1516. Richard Grey, a member of the Ironmongers' Company, and one of the aldermen of the city, was this year elected sheriff of London. He was buried at St. Michael's, Queenhithe, and left five pounds to the master and wardens of the Ironmongers for the purpose of keeping his obit for five years in the said church ; twenty shillings to be expended at each obit. To the priest and clerk of the said parish, ringing of bells, ij. tapers of wax, and bread and drink for the master and wardens of the said craft, viij*. iiijrf. The master, if present, was to receive ij*. and either of the wardens xxc?. and the residue of the xx*. to be divided among poor householders, iiijc?. to each person.
    Arms : Argent, on a bend cottised dancette gutes, three lion's heads erased of the field, all within a bordure azure bezantee,?MS. Harl. No. 6860, and Coll. Arms.
