Thomas Bard married a widow, Mrs Crew.
Walgrave Crewe, of Hinton, Northants, m. 1670, Susanna, dau of Robert Mellor, Esq., of Derby, and d. in 1673, aet. thirty-six, leaving (by this lady, who m. 2ndly, Thomas Bard, Esq.), an only son, Walgrave, of Gray's Inn, London, who d.s.p. 1694.
Walgrave Crewe was son of John Crewe, of Stene, co Northampton, who was elevated to the peerage on 20, April, 1661, as Baron Crew, of Stene, in consideration for his zealous services in the restoration of the monarchy. His lordship m. October, 1648, Jemima (d. 14 October, 1675), dau. and Co-heiress of Edward Waldegrave, Esq., of Lawford, co. Essex.
Waldgrave Crewe, of Preston in com. North'ton, brother of Thomas Lord Crewe of Stene, remarried Susan, dau. of [Robert Mellor, esq. of Derby] and had issue Waldgrave Crewe son and heir, under age 8 June 1694; the said Susannah was remarried to Thomas Bard of Clercarr in Derbysh. esq. who was guardian of Waldgrave Crewe, esq. aforesaid.

It may be noted that a short pedigree of Mellor was recorded at the Visitation of Derbyshire 1662-64, beginning with Robert Mellor of Derby, esq. (d. 1656), who had a dau. Susanna by his second marriage.
