Name: Isabel Holgate
Change Date: 15 MAR 2010
?Margaret?s mother was probably Isobel Holgate.?
Married first John St. Owen. (from whom she held a third part of the manor of Burton in dower.)
Heir of her father.
I imagine her husband John St. Owen must have been a son of John St. Owen (1345-1385) of Burton, and that he died without issue bef 1403 , hence his sister being an heiress (and future mother in law of Isabel?s daughter Margaret.)
Re Clapham, Sussex:
In 1402 Thomas St. Owen, son and heir of John St. Owen, died a minor and was succeeded by his father's uncle Patrick, but 8 years later Patrick was shown not to have been the rightful heir and the manor passed to Thomas Downton, nephew of Thomas St. Owen and then a minor. At his death, before 1456, he was succeeded by his three daughters, one of whom married William Wood.
Father: Philip Holgate or Holcote
John St. Owen
