    The Lingen family held as a principle estate Sutton Freen Court before aquiring Stoke Edith park ands its manor. Lingen Manor remained in the family. They also held the manors of Sutton St Nicholas and Sutton St Michael, which were held in fee from the Feudal Marcher Barony of Kington. Kington barony was created in 1096 by William Rufus.
