Name: Thomas Arundell
Prefix: Sir 1 2
Birth: ABT 1454 in Lanherne, Cornwall 3
Death: 1 OCT 1485 3
Change Date: 19 AUG 2007
Presumably this is the Sir Thomas Arundel of Lanherne, Cornwall who was knighted by Henry VII after fighting at Bosworth (22 Aug 1485). If so he died soon after.
Thomas Arundell died holding the manor of Frampton, Glos, in 1485 or 1486, leaving a son and heir John.
Thomas died in 1485 before he had been able to pay off his father's debts, and the manor of Westbury passed to his son John, who was said to hold it of Sir Robert Willoughby, who was a cousin of Humphrey Stafford. Thomas's son, Sir John Arundell, sold, in 1549?50, to Thomas Long, clothier of Trowbridge, a mill and various tenements in Westbury, which probably comprised the whole of this part of the manor. (fn. 89) Thomas Long died childless seised of the manor in 1562, (fn. 90) and the manor passed under his will to his nephew Edward Long.
