Gerald Paget in his book on the ancestors of Prince Charles quotes as L 3549 ancestor Sir Francis Kingsmill, baptised 6 January 1570, died 25 July 1620. Gerald Paget does not give a wife to Sir Francis.
In The Royal Descents of 500 Immigrants, page 235, Gary Boyd Roberts mentions that Sir Francis Kingsmill was married to NN Clifford, their daughter Dorothea Kingsmill married Alexander Marchant, Sieur de St.Michel and was the mother of Elizabeth Marchant, wife of the diarist Samuel Pepys.
In the will of Henry Hunt, of Gosfield Essex, dated 1612, he bequeaths a gold ring to Francis Kingsmill, husband of his daughter Dorothy Hunt, he also leaves money to their daughter Dorothy Kingsmill.
Then the will was found of Dorothy Kingsmill, nee Hunt's mother, Jane Hunt, nee de Vere, dated 1622 and this mentions her granddaughter Dorothy Kingsmill.
Could it be that Sir Francis Kingsmill was married twice? That he had daughters Dorothy and Dorothea? Can anyone tell?
