8xgreat grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II (through her mother Elizabeth Bowes Lyon), via his daughter Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Foley of Witley Court, Wilts.
Edward died 31/10/1656 at 47 years of age. His body was interred 1656 in All Hallows, Staining, City of London.
He married Elizabeth Woodward. Elizabeth was born c1620. Elizabeth was the daughter of Christopher Woodward. Elizabeth died 24/06/1698 at 77 years of age. She made a will 16/04/1694. Elizabeth's will was probated 7/01/1698.
He made a will 26/04/1656. Edward's will was probated 17/11/1656. Bought the Manor and Hundred of Heytesbury in 1641. Had an additional unnamed daughter who married Robert Wilson.
Buried in All Hallows Staining, City of London, close to Fenchurch Street Station. The church was demolished in 1870.
Edward Ashe and Elizabeth Woodward had the following children:

Apparently the above is worng , and he married 2nd in 1643 Elizabeth, dau of William Jolliffe of Leek, Staffs, and by her had Willia, Joseph, Edward and Anne. Only Catherine and Elizabeth were by Elizabeth Woodward.

In memory of Edward Ashe of Halstead in the county of Kent and Lord of the Manor which he purchased of the family of the Mores in 1641 and died 31 October 1656 aged 47.

Of Anne wife of William Ashe Esquire daughter of Alexander Popham of Littlecote who died 30 April 1684 aged 35.

John Ashe (d. 1659) of Freshford?s family prospered from his success and both his father James and his four brothers were involved. It became a highly organised operation with his brothers Samuel and Edward in London selling their goods through their shop or selling overseas.
