?[The papers of Frederick Brown, formerly vicar of Nailsea, record that] Richard Sheppard, alias Richman, or Richmond, married Aug. 3rd 1571, Elizabeth, daughter of John Panter, of Keynsham Abbey, and relict of Edmund Tynte, of Wraxall (who died 1570), and by him had issue,
I. Thomas Sheppard, born 1575; married Mary Madd. [He was presumably the one with will dated 1619.]
II. John Sheppard, buried 1579.
III. Dorothy Sheppard, born 1573; married to William Harbord, of Welton, Somerset, and had issue. Their eldest son, Sir Charles Harbord, Kt. (baptized at Wraxall, Somerset, July 2nd, 1596), was Surveyor General to Charles I. and Charles II., ...?

My wife Mary , Extrix: To my son Richard, land in Burton, bought of William Coxe, gent and in Wraxall bought of Thomas Allen, also land which I have contracted for with Thomas Allen and sir Robert Gorges, Knight. My son John Sheppard, To my daughter Mary Sheppard £40. To my daughter Elizabeth £100 at eighteen or marriage.
Furthur Admon: 26 Oct 1626 to Thomas Waters, uncle of John, Mary and Elizabeth, their mother, Mary being dead.
Another Grant 8 Nov 1836 to Mary daughter of Thomas Sheppard and wife of Anthony Savery.
Jan. 9, 1623/4 Capt. Richard [Richmond alias Sheppard] with his brother or son Lt. John is last heard of in command of a privateer, the Mary Providence, in Va.*

25 Aug 1624: John Driver of Bristol, shipwright, aged 38, deposed that he built the ship Mary Providence of Cork near Bristol about 2 1/2 years before, and that it was sold to Daniel Coohin [Gookin[ of Galway and Jenkins, and fitted out for a voyage to Virginia.
