ID: I7975
Name: Sir John Reigny
Sex: M
Residence: Rowyd & Shyrston, Somerset
LVG: 1312
Note: 1 The lands of John de Reigny of Melcombe were in John of Erleigh's hands in 1293. (Footnote 10) Joan de Reigny of Melcombe, mentioned between 1291 and 1296, may have been succeeded by John de Reigny by 1312. Melcombe is said to have passed from Elizabeth, John de Reigny's daughter and wife of John Paulet, to her son Sir John Paulet (d. 1391). --- Collins Peerage apparently says he (Sir Thomas?) was of ?Of Rowd, Wiltshire? but this would seem to be a mistake. He was of Sheerston, Rode, and Melcombe in North Petherton, and Staulegh in Milverton, all in Somerset. --- Archaeologia Cambrensis 1868 p187 says the Reignys held land at Totnes at Melcombe, Rowell in Wilts, and Sheerston in Somerset.
