  • Name: Mary Eltoftes
  • Sex: F
  • Note:

Heiress of Farnhill it would seem: ?Ancient Bingley? by J Horsfall Turner says that Farnhill became the property of Mary Eltoft?s son Francis Bindloss, the father of Sir Robert (1672), after she married ?Robert Bindloss of Berwyck?.
    ---
Standish Hall: Of interest also were two carved oak mantlepieces which had been brought from Borwick Hall (where Ralph Standish's mother lived in 1715) ... and a shield had the Arms of Bindloss of Borwick impaling Eltofts - Byndlos 1603 Eltofts. Another panel had the arms of Bindloss impaling Dalton .
In 1921, the Wigan Observer reported that "The two day sale of the Standish Hall Estate which began on Thursday last week. The auctioneers stated that an offer of 3,000 had been received for the fine oak panelling alone. This offer came from America."
Between 1921 and 1923 the chapel and the old Tudor part of the house were taken down and shipped to America, although it has not so far been possible to trace their present whereabouts.
