    ...Josiah Allen was born January 20, 1800, in Edgefield Co., SC and he
    migrated to Mississippi with his family about 1811. At the age of
    thirteen, Josiah enlisted in Captain Dale's Company to help defend Fort
    Madison from the Indians (War of 1812). later, Josiah became a Congregational Methodist minister. He died at his home in the southwest corner of Jasper Co., MS in Dec. 1891. Josiah was married about 1833 in Rankin Co., MS to Elizabeth
    Howell (born ca 1811 in Kentucky). There were three children listed with them on the 1850 census of Simpson Co., MS. There may have been other children.

    enlisted in Sam Dale's Company. he was a Congregational Methodist
    minister, and died at his home in the southwest corner of Jasper Co., Miss.,
    Dec 1891.

    ...Josiah Allen was born on Jan 20, 1800; he married Elizabeth Howell on
    Aug 6, 1833 in Rankin Co, MS. According to the 1850 census of Simpson C
    MS, Josiah Allen was age 50 and born in SC; his wife Elizabeth Allen was
    age 39 and born in KY. Their eldest child was Philip E. Allen and age 11
    in 1850. At the age of about 14 Josiah Allen enlisted in Sam Dale's
    Company to fight the Creek Indians in AL. He died in Jasper Co, MS in D
    1891. He was a farmer and a Minister of the Gospel.
