Emmanuel Episcopal Church was the scene of a beautiful summer wedding Saturday, August 16, when Miss Doris Elizabeth Nelson, 43 Cortland street, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Nelson, 66 Elm, became the bride of Joseph Hoyt Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Roy Walker, 23 Mitchell street.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. Lloyd S. Charters, rector of Emmanuel church and assisted by Rev. Philip C. Pearson, Chenango county minister.
Preceeding the ceremony, Mrs. Floyd V. Hart, organist, gave a recital. Evan Crandall, baritone soloist sang Malotte's beautiful "Lords Prayer" during the ceremony.
Miss Edith Bryant of Norwich was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Shirley Moore, cousin of the bride, and Miss Helen Bakoon, both of Norwich.
David Walker served as his brother's best man. Ushers were Walter Thompson, Jr, and Henry Thompson of Binghamton, cousins of the groom.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the groom's parents.
The bride is a graduate of Norwich high school and is employed in the Chemung county treasurer's office, as senior account clerk.
The groom is graduate of West Winfield central school and attended New York university. He served five years with the 101st Signal Bn. in the Pacific theater of operations. He is now employed in the engineer's department of the New York State Department of public works
