Dr. Frank Sells was born in 1910 in Johnson City, Tennessee. He attended Columbia Bible College from 1928 through 1932. He then went to King College in Tennessee where he received his bachelors degree. Later, he attended Dallas Theological Seminary where he received a Masters degree in Greek. In 1942 Dr. Sells married Miss Amanda Dosser. He was ordained to the ministry that same year. Dr. Sells has been affiliated with Palmetto Baptist Temple and Palmetto Baptist Academy since 1980.
Mr. Sells studied under many extraordinary men of God while in college. Louis Sperry Shaffer was the president of Dallas Theological Seminary when Dr. Sells was there, and Dr. Harry Ironside was a visiting lecturer. Dr. Theessin was his Greek teacher.
Dr. Sells has taught in several Bible colleges through the years. He taught at Columbia Bible College from 1936 - 1968. He taught at Shenandoah Baptist Bible College in Roanoke, Virginia from 1964 -1970 and at Gateway Bible College in Virginia Beach, Virginia from 1975 -1977. He also gave Bible lessons in the public schools for many years. Dr. Sells held weekday and evening classes at Palmetto Baptist Temple for a number of years as well. He also taught Bible for many years at Palmetto Baptist Academy.
Dr. Sells life verse is Psalm 18:30, 32, "As for God, his way is perfect. . . and maketh my way perfect."

Columbia, S.C. ? Funeral services for Reverend Frank Sells, 92, of Columbia, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 12, 2003, in Palmetto Baptist Temple, with Pastor Darrell Wood officiating. Dr. Paul Hawkins, pastor of Tidewater Baptist Temple, Evangelist Tom Hayes, Dr. Bob Jones III, President of Bob Jones University, Dr. Lonnie Mattingly, President of Shawnee Baptist Bible College, Dr. George Murray, President of Columbia International University, and Dr. Clarence Sexton, President of Crown College, will be the speakers. A male choir consisting of preacher friends will have part in the service. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be George Gallman, Gary Parsons, Duaine Hamilton, Joseph Poe, Ralph Poe and the Rev. Dwayne Rueter. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John Hooker, Ricky Purnell, the Rev. Dave Mros and the Rev. Rudy Waff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:30 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. The family will also receive friends in the Community Room of Greenlawn Funeral Home immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmetto Baptist Temple, 1510 S. Beltline Blvd., Columbia, S.C. 29205. Greenlawn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Reverend Sells, of 1445 Elsing Green Street, Columbia, S.C., died Thursday evening, August 7, 2003, at his residence. He was born in Johnson City, Tn. on November 7, 1910, son of the late U.S. Congressman Sam R. Sells and Mrs. Frances Hayward Sells of Johnson City, Tn. Rev. Sells devoted his life to the teaching and preaching of the Lord Jesus Christ. He graduated from Columbia Bible College in 1932 and also received a BS from King?s College. He then attained his master?s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. Rev. Sells was given honorary doctorate degrees from Tabernacle Baptist Seminary, Shawnee Baptist Bible College and Bob Jones University. Rev. Sells taught at Columbia Bible College between the years of 1936 and 1968 and continued teaching at various churches and schools across the East right up until his death at 92 years of age. Rev. Sells was a faithful member of Palmetto Baptist Temple of Columbia, S.C.
Survivors include a sister, Lucy Sells Carpenter, of Chapin, S.C.; five nieces, Anne Frances Grimes, Charlotte C. Lemann, Frances C. Welch, Lucy C. Snead, Charlotte C. Evans and three nephews, Sam R. Sells II, Charles H. Coe and J. Walter Carpenter. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Amanda Dosser Sells; brother, Sam H. Sells and sister, Charlotte Sells Coe.
