Malinda Elizabeth was 16 years old when she left Albemarle County, VA. and moved to Christian County (now Trigg County, KY), KY, with her family. She married Thomas L. Baker before her nineteenth birthday. Thomas L. Baker received a land grant of 100 acres on the Cumberland River, Trigg County, KY: Date 12/24/1822, Book 2, Page 248. He later helped organize several Baptist churches in Trigg County. The Bond (marriage) Book in Trigg County courthouse shows that he performed many marriages in the county. Rev. Baker owned a number of slaves before 1865, and he would conduct religious services for them before leaving for his Sunday church services. Rev. Baker and Malinda were buried side by side, next to their vegetable garden. Two of their children, Amos, age 10, and Thomas L., Jr., age 20, were buried there also. Alexander, 5th child, and his wife Elizabeth and son Thomas are also in this family burying ground. This is now known as the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
