    * Census Info *
    1830 Trigg County, Kentucky - Andrew was not married and had no children, but he is on the census as having 1 male 10-15, 2 males 15-20, and 2 males 20-30. There are no females listed. As the other siblings were married, and already listed on the census, this works out to be Andrew as the head, living with his younger brothers James, Meekins, Alexander, and Robert.

    1870 Kentucky, Trigg, Canton - There is an Alford Cunningham, age 19, born KY, Mulatto male, in the household. He cannot read or write, and works on the farm. Also, there is a Brooks Ganes, age 15, born KY, Black male, who works on the farm, on the census

    * Per Howell Finley, grandson of Andrew Cunningham *
    Andrew was a soldier who had served under General Andrew Jackson during the Battle of New Orleans. After the war was over, Andrew had no way to get home from Louisiana but to walk, so he cut a walking stick on the battlefield and used it to walk home to Trigg County, Kentucky. Howell has the walking stick in his possession - there are numerous notches on the staff, but as to their meaning, Howell said nobody knows what they stand for; could they be for miles walked or days it took to reach home?
