and 12 days. 24 years proffessor of Relgion in the Baptist

had a very extensive inscription on it.
* Will is in Spartanburg Co. estate file 289, naming wife Mary, and
children Elizabeth Cox, Joseph Allen, John Allen, James Allen, Moses
H. Allen, Sarah Allen, and Polly Allen. The will refers to "all
children not of age." Exrs. are Joseph and Matthew Allen. The will is
dated 2 Jan. 1826, and wit. by Henry Cole, Sr., Jesse Cole, and
Ozborn Cole (WB A, p. 84-86; box 1, pkg. 4). The will was recorded
13 Feb. 1826.
* A transcript is in Brent Holcomb, SPARTANBURG CO., SC, WILL
P. 136. " An 18 May 1826 note in the estate file states, "Honord
Madam, these lines is to inform you that there is no doubt of Thomas
Lindsey being dead and there is but one living child of the heirs of
John Lindsey decd and Jemimah Lindsey thinks herself intitled to his
part of money, etc." This note would seem to have been sent to Mary
Woodruff Allen, who outlived her husband. Jemimah Lindsey was the
daughter of MWA's uncle Thomas Woodruff. Why was her husband John
Lindsey entitled to a share of James Allen's estate?"
