  • Note:
    The Denne family of Kent and Sussex was established before the
    Norman conquest. Noted members of the direct line were Sir Alured de
    Denn, a person of great learning, seneschal of the priory of
    Canterbury, escheator of Kent in 1234, and Sir William Denne, Knight
    of Denne Hill, who was in Parliament for the city of Canterbury.
