    Hi John,
I'm sending this to both of your emails. For some reason jeh49341@chartmi.net is coming up 'red'. So let me know if you rec'd this in both addresses.
I came across your 'family tree' information. I'm particularly interested in the informatio n you have on 'Hoag'....and how you came about finding it.
I'm the 4th great grandson to Nathaniel Hoeg & Abagail Mills. You have similar information a s well ... but you have 'Hoag'.
The following information is what I have, which has been passed down via family letters, bibl es and research ... (Nathaniel Hoeg & Abagail Mills).
I haven't been able to go beyond Nathaniel or Abagail ... however you have. Which I'm hoping. ...my Nathaniel & Abagail...is your Nathan & Abigail Hoag. This is why I'm wondering how yo u came about the information ... ie birth certificates, registrations, census, Marriage...etc . I'm hoping you can help me out.....and share information.
    Here's my connection ...
Kevin s/o Trueman s/o Martin s/o Joseph Hoeg & Eliza Jane Gilroy s/o Nathan Hoe g & Charlotte Harrison s/o
Joseph Hoeg & Elizabeth Nelson s\o Nathaniel Hoeg & Abagail Mary Mills
You have Joseph Hoag & Betsy Nelson in your tree....with Nathan and Abigail as parents.
We do know that Nathaniel was in the American Revolution. Nathan Hoeg joined the Army as Pvt . June 1779 and served under Col. James De Lancey until the evacuation. His memorial (CLAIM ) is listed 1 Apr. 1786 Cumberland. He was a native of New York. He claimed for horses and c attle. His claim to the Crown was rejected."

website containing an information of Nathan HOEG of Capt. Knap's troop in Col. DeLancey's Cor ps of refugees, regarding an attack on Nathan by 10 rebels where he received saber cuts to hi s head. He managed to run and hide in the woods and survived the attack.
Nathaniel Hoeg born 1749 in Westchester, New York & died May 11, 1820 Southampton, Nova Scoti a.
Abagail Mills born Jun 10, 1747 in Amesbury, Maine, USA & died after 1820, Southampton, Nov a Scotia (she was mentioned in Nathaniel's will).
Married before July 24, 1784 - Nova Scotia
    Children
Martin born July 24, 1784 in ?? & died July 26, 1884 in Southampton, N.S. (Don Landry & Rut h Hoeg descend from Martin)
    Jeptha born 1790
Mary born March 1792 in Maccan, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia and died Feb 17, 1880 in Macca n, Nova Scotia
Ruth born October 10, 1801 in Maccan, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia
Joseph born May 25, 1802 in Maccan, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia (I descend from Joseph)
Nathaniel's first wife's name is unknown and married before 1779.
    Children
    Sarah born before 1784
    Andrew born before 1784
Nathaniel's 1st wife was killed by the Americans...when fleeing. We have a letter written b y my father's grandmother. She was married to Joseph Hoeg great grandson to Nathaniel and Ab agail Mills. She mentions that Nathaniel was captured by the Americans and put in prison. H e and a few others escaped....and a ransom was put on his head. He entered into Canada, thr ough Ontario...and settled in Nova Scotia. I will need to look her letter up and read it ag ain. We have Nathaniel's will and all children are listed....even Sarah and Andrew.
As you can see...I have Nathaniel and Abagail having 5 children and only 2 children with hi s first wife. We have the same info...but reversed. I haven't been able to find any type o f baptisms certificates, birth registrations...etc.
As for the spelling...we have always spelt it Hoeg. I'm thinking now Nathaniel changed it fr om HOAG to HOEG...when he was fleeing into Canada.
I've attached Nathaniel's gravestone. The black one was erected by Roy Hoeg down in Southam pton, Nova Scotia. Roy had Nathaniel's sword that has been handed down over the years....an d if you look close he had the sword etched into his gravestone. When Roy passed away...th e sword was handed down to his grandson. I stay in touch with Roy's daughter Ruth (cousin) . Beside the new gravestone is his original stone (flat). I have also attached a close up p icture of the sword's handle. There's German markings on the sword...which always lead us t o believe he was German...or possibly his father or grandfather. That part could be wrong no w....after looking at your family data....with John Sr. Hoag coming from Wales / England . I have added some other info as well...that you might find interesting and want as backup.
Over the years of working on our family tree I have connected with two 4th cousins Don Landr y and Ruth Hoeg. Don lives in Ottawa, Ontario and Ruth lives in Cumberland, Nova Scotia..... still on the Hoeg family farm.
Hope to hear back from you. Btw ... if you are on facebook let me know ... as I am.
I'm located in Whitby, Ontario....just east of Toronto.
Thank you, Kevin & Cecile Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwar ds,
