    Douglas Dalziel
    Birth: Aug. 13, 1915, Canada
    Death: Jan. 16, 2006, Canada
DALZIEL, John Douglas - John Douglas Dalziel went to be with His Lord on Monday January 16, 2006 at North Bay, Ontario in his 91st year.
(Douglas born to Jeremiah and Catherine (Smith) Dalziel who came from the Shetland Islands). Douglas was the beloved husband of Olive Emily Chisholm for a blissful marriage that lasted for nearly 63 years.
Predeceased by one sister, Barbara Alton.
Douglas, son of the late Jeremiah and Catherine Dalziel, was born in Sault Ste. Marie, August 13, 1915.
A graduate of the old North Bay Normal School, he entered government service with Canada Post and rose over 43 years to become the Superintendent of Human Resources for an area extending, in his words, from ""Aurora to Kenora"".
Douglas served 4 years ashore and afloat in Canada's Wartime Navy. He helped to found Ontario's Humane Society, North Bay's Humane Society and Kinette Playground in the 1950's.
A gentle tease, and a 25 year member of the North Bay Toastmaster's Club, Douglas had a particularly keen appreciation of correct speech - written or spoken.
Douglas' hobbies were disparate - the study of hymn writers and hunting! But his greatest love was his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
His priorities in life were always his family and his church and his interests were in Bethel Gospel Chapel in North Bay where he was a Sunday School teacher, a deacon and a song leader.
At Arkell Road, Bible Chapel in Guelph, when he attended, he also did song leading. His avocation was 'Who wrote our hymns?' Blessed with an amazing memory, he told hymn stories at various venues throughout his 25 retirement years and said that with 15 minutes notice, he could tell any of, say, a hundred hymn stories.
Olive and Douglas' marriage was one of bliss. He and Olive were devoted to each other and their children.
The late Mr. Dalziel will be at rest from 10 am to 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 21st with the funeral following immediately at Bethel Gospel Chapel (funeral arrangements entrusted to the Martyn Funeral Home.
His remains will be interred at the family plot in Greenwood Cemetery, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, perhaps you might give your donation to the Missionary Service Committee, the Bethel Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
