    Obituary, Manitoulin Expositor, August 16, 1934 -
Alexander Campbell Dies Suddenly in Detroit It is with sincere regret that we chronicle the death of one of Gore Bay's former residents in the person of Alexander Campbell, whose death took place in Detroit on Wednesday, August 1st, following an illness of only a few days duration.
"Sandy" as he was known to one and all was born in Evansville in 1898 where he spent his boyhood days, moving to Gore Bay with his mother and father and brothers and sisters in 1920. In 1923 he went to Detroit where he took a position with the Ford Motor Co. and was still in their employ at the time of his death.
Sandy possessed a very happy and congenial disposition and made a host of friends wherever he was. His regular visits home each summer were looked forward to with a great deal of pleasure not only by his family, but by his many friends and his untimely death is mourned by all.
He is survived by his mother Mrs. Mary Campbell Evansville; andthe following brother and sisters: Mrs. Chris. Burns, Layforest, Ont.,Mrs. Sam Cooper and Mrs. Wm. Brown, Powasson; Mrs. W.M. Gibson, Evansville. Colin James, Clifford, Angus and Duncan, Evansville; and John of Powasson.
The body was brought by motor direct from Detroit by David J. Jeffries, funeral director, on Friday and the funeral took place from Evansville on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Interment being made in Gordon Cemetery. The funeral was under the Masonic Auspices with Rev. J. J.Mathias, and Rev. B.F. Fuller conducting the service at the church.
