Bailey, Ivan Isaac-of Evansville, passed away at the Mindemoya Hospital on Saturday, January 21, 1995 at the age of 85 years.
He was born in Burpee Township, son of the late Isaac and Mary Elizabeth (Gibson) Bailey and had lived most all his life on Manitoulin except for a short time when he worked for Falconbridge. When Ivan returned to the Island, he worked as a stone mason and many chimneys that can be seen were built by him. He also farmed, trapped and built Moonbeam Camp which he operated for over 30 years. He was a member of the Orange Lodge and the Old Tyme Orchestra and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors, and especially enjoyed hunting.
Dearly loved friend of Marjorie Pidgen and beloved father and father-in-law of Darlene and Dennis Hogan of Sudbury, step daughters and families Wilda and Jack Wright and Vera Atkinson of Gore Bay; loving Grandfather of several grandchildren; dear brother of Olive Richards of Little Current; uncle of Doris and Bill Bowerman of Mindemoya, Carol and Don White of Cold Springs; Ruth and Orton Rumley of Rockville. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 1986; sisters D'Lila Burns, Violet Downey, Mary Elizabeth Bailey, Henrietta O'Connor, and brother Robert John Bailey. Friends were received at the Turner Funeral Home on Monday after 7 p.m. The funeral service was conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Father Tom Cunningham and Rev. Iain Macdonald officiating. Interment in Mills Cemetery. In remembrance, donations to the Western Manitoulin Cancer Society would be appreciated.
