E. L. Claridge, Q.C. Dies in Toronto Hospital
Mr. E. L. Claridge, of Gore Bay, Crown Attorney for Manitoulin, passed away at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, on Thursday, February 3, 1966 at the age of 66.
Mr. Claridge opened a law practice in Gore Bay in 1945 after completing four years service as an administrative officer in the R.C.A.F. He had been Crown Attorney since 1947. In 1958 he was appointed to the Queen's Council in the New Year's list.
He was born at Brampton, receiving his early education there and at Toronto before entering Osgood Hall. He was called to the bar in May, 1924 and started practice in Toronto.
He is survived by his widow, the former Marjorie Smith and two daughters.
Funeral services were held at Lyons Memorial United Church, Gore Bay, on Sunday, February 6th. Interment in Gordon Cemetery.
