    Lewis was a solider in the Revolutionary War from South Carolina. Accordi ng to the DAR Patriot Index (1967) he lived 1755-1824 and was a private.

    Applied for membership in Piedmont Baptist Association - High Bluffs, Octo ber 1819. Son, John, is a Delegate: Minutes of Fifth Anniversary: "To ok up the petition from the High Bluffs church praying the Associati on to take under consideration the case of Lewis Roberts. The Associati on appointed brethren Smith and Westberry,
    with the church, to inquire into his case and report to the next Associati on."

    Minutes of Sixth Anniversary: "Art 13th Took up the case of Lewis Robert s, agreeable to the 14th section of the minutes of last year. Brother Smi th reported to the Association that from some Providential circumstance s, he had been prevented from making the necessary inquiry into the [reins tating] of the said Lewis Roberts, who it is said was really a member of t he Baptist Church at Edisto or there abouts in South Carolina, but for so me cause was expelled from the church, but is now living an orderly Christ ian life; and applied to the church at High Bluff for membership. The chur ch, being under some difficulties as to the proper method to be pursued, a pplied to the Association for aid.
    Agreed brother Peacock be appointed and brother Bates requested, to meet w ith the [church] at High Bluff and give them the necessary aid in [the cas e] of said Roberts and report the same to the next Association."

    Minutes of Seventh Anniversary: "Art 11th Agreeable to the 13th secti on of last's years minutes, brethren Peacock and Bates reported to this As sociation that they had met the church at High Bluff agreeable to appointm ent together with the church and reported the case of Lewis Roberts settle d."
