    Isabella Despard writes, in 1866:
    Henry the Swordsman, traditionally, the left-handed, who together with another Henry D'Espard of whom there is no mention, was cited before the Irish Parliament for a breach of the peace against St. Leger Gilbert. The swordsman fought Conways of Cappanara, in which he probably lost his life. ... In 1797 I met at a dinner at the Palmer's of Rushall, two Misses Conways of Cappanara. Mrs. Palmer was a sister of my aunt, Mrs. Bradish, and the families must have continued their acquaitance notwithstanding the duel. Mrs. Palmer and Aunt Bradish were daughters of the heiress Jane Despard, married to Humphreys who lived near the Conways.
