Richard L. Phipps, 890 of Visalia died Friday, Feb. 9 2001.
Richard was born in Visalia to Claude and Naomi Phipps on Nov. 5, 1920. He married Elizabeth Tipton in Reno, Nev., in 1941. They were married for 60 years. They loved going to Morro Bay in their trailer and spending time together. He loved fishing and golfing. He loved his yard work. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Phipps of Visalia; son, John Phipps, of Visalia; grandchildren, Eric Glispey of Visalia, Tracy Oppedyk of Visalia, Tricia Phipps of Tempe, Ariz., and Tina Phipps of Tempe, Ariz; and great-grandchildren, Michael Glispey, Alec Oppedyk, Alyssa Oppedyk and Aaron Oppedyk.
Visitation will be noon to 7 p.m. today at the chapel. Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
