Maggie ran a butcher shop in Green Lake, Wisconsin, that catered to the wealthy families who had summer homes in the area. She carried the most expensive cuts of meat to meet the demands of her customer
In a letter she wrote to her sister Mamie in May 1930, she said, "We went up to Iron Mt. [Michigan] and stayed all night at [Edward] Kingsfords - The change there is wonderful - they have every thing but as nice as ever to me. Then on to Crystal Falls to see the Mc Gee - Well but aging - through Florence [Wisconsin] but did not even see Commonwealth [Wisconsin]. Beautiful drive even in pouring rain." --- Edward Kingsford to whom she refers was married to a cousin of Henry Ford. Edward Kingsford had an automobile manufacturing plant in Michigan where he produced the "woodies." The scrap wood from car production was converted to charcoal (Kingsford Charcoal). Were the Kingsford's and Mc Gee's related to the McLelland's, or did they know the family from years before when the McLelland's lived in that section of Michigan, or did they know Maggie through her business in Green Lake?
I have several family photographs from Iron Mountain, Michigan. Most do not have the name of the person.
