Name: John Edward Dinsmore

1883 graduate of Bowdoin College. A teacher, resident of Auburn, ME in June, 1892, when he applied for a passport for his wife and himself. He applied for another passport in Oct. 1898 for himself, wife and child born the prior year. He was Principal of the School of the American Colony in Jerusalem and a botanist who founded a herbarium in Jerusalem.
J.E.Dinsmore of the American Colony in Jerusalem was active in Palestine and Syria in the first half of the 20 th century. He'd revised the edition of Post's Flora (1932-1933) ,and included all relevant data published since 1896. The American Colony in Jerusalem was a Christian community in Jerusalem founded by immigrants from the United States and Sweden.
