MRS D D DEEN DIES OF INFLUENZA-PNEUMONIA
Another link in the chain of sorrows which has wrapped itself around the family of Mr and Mrs P L Smith in the illness and passing of their loved ones, was formed on Saturday, March 20, when their eldest daughter, MrsAda Smith Deen passes away at her home in the Deen District.
Mrs Deen was born twenty-seven years ago in this county and was married to D D Deen seven years ago, who with four children, the eldest fiveyearsold, and an infant of four months old survive her. He body was laid to rest in the Deen Cemetery, Rev I K Chambers, pastor of the Hopewell Methodist Church conducted the funeral services. Besides her husband and four son, Herbert, Clyde, Louis, and Clifton Deen, she is survived by her parents, P L Smith; four brothers and two sisters, PrattSmith, Clifford Smith, Johnnie and Terry Smith, Miss Lura Smith and Mrs Carrie Fossett.
She united with the Methodist Church in early childhood and gave such service to her church and the cause it represented as her as her many home duties allowed, and her life gave evidence of many traits of Christian character.
Her sister Mrs Bertie Waters, who with her husband, Robert Waters, preceded her to the grave three weeks before she passes, was married exactly three weeks before Mrs Deen's marriage took place. Her husband was desperately ill of the same malady and her sister, Mrs Henry Fossettis also ill of influenza there inter-woven sorrows make this stroke peculiarly heavy to bear.
Numbers of friends and relatives from a distance ministered to the family during their illness and attended the funeral and burial services of Mrs Deen.
