    William continued to live for a number of years in PA the state of his birth In 1734 he bought a farm of one thousand acres to the east, northeast and southeast of Rosemont. Three years after the purchase of this land he built a stone house South of Rosemont and in the gable placed a stone marked W. C. R 1737 his own initials combined with those of his wife, this being one of the first stone dwellings of those parts. was rebuilt in 1783 by his grandson Joseph , son of Lot. The stone house was torn down in the 1860's but the stone marking was placed in a conspicuous place in the bride-wall of the barn.

    Rittinghusen, William , of Amwell, Hunterdon Co.; will of. Son William, the land where he lives. Son Peter Rittinghuysen, the land where he lives, with the saw-mill. Son Isaac, five Shillings, Son Lot, the plantation where "I live," and he is to allow "my widow, Catherine" to live in the house and provide for her. Son Moses, the plantation on which he lives. To my daughter Priscilla's heir, call and known by the name of William Search, 20 shillings. To my widow, Catharine, and my daughters, Susannah, Anne, and Hannah, my personal estate.
    Executors: Sons, William and Peter.
    Witnesses: Edward Prall, Malakiah Bonham, Lot Rittinghuysen

    William and his wife, Catharine , are buried in the old private burying ground, east of Prallsville stone quarry, on land that was formerly a part of the Rittenhouse estate. Their graves are marked by common field stones, with the inscriptions W. R. 1767 and C.R. 1778
