    page 137-138 & 193-197 of Vol. 2 of 4th ed (vols. pub. Gen Pub Co
    aprx2004-2007) of Adventurers of Purse and Person by John Frederick Dorman;

    SOURCE: Moseley notebooks by John Hale Stutesman, Acc No 1150- 1162 at the
    Chesterfield Hist Soc, an abstracted version of which autumn 2004 to be sent to
    FHLibrary in Salt Lake:
    Born near Henrico-Goochland county line. Rose, "Turpin Notebook," cites
    Edward's parentage, as verified by Deed Book 5: 139, Goochland Co., and Will
    Book 2: 59, Albemarle Co., where Martha Moseley's mother and brother name some
    of Martha's children. Edward's birthplace is presumed from his father's will;
    see Deeds and Wills (1725-1737): 599-600, Henrico Co.
    National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Vol. 84, No. 3, Sept. 1996,
    "Resolving Conflict between Records: A Spurious Moseley Bible", by Warren L.
    Forsythe, Ph.D., Box 1299, Ellenburg, WA 98926-1299. Forsythe's thorough
    investigations and research of this Charlotte branch of the Moseley family and
    his use of genealogical methodology has solved the controversy of Edward
    Moseley and his family. Edward was not born in 1718, but rather approx 1730.
    No Tully Moseley in this family.
    (Also see RIN 28333 for Edward's Charlotte neighbors George and Rachel
    His 1761 Lunenburg Co Va land purchase may have been from a Peter Hudson. if
    so, check va pat 17: 103 of 1736 where a Peter Hudson got land on Swift Cr,
    not too far from where Edward's father lived, now in Chesterfield Co. Va.

    you can search for Red oak post office, charlotte , va
    and just off that highway US 15 to the SW of red oak post office is the old Red
    oak town
    -which you can also search on google maps, where Peggy (Moseley) is reportedly
    so by 1800 Hillery Moseley may have lived up there on the ridge of US 15.
    from 1760s originally they lived down on Staunton river , about at the eastward
    bend in the river,
    NW from red oak post office.
    on google maps, from where US 15 intersects US 360, just east of the bridge to
    Halifax Co VA,
    there is a short cut road from that US 360 Halifax Co bridge toward southbound
    US 15
    The short cut is called VA/or?county #92, the jeb stuart highway
    just south of us 360 on VA/county 92 are two roads leading west (or maybe it's
    the first one is Ferry Moseley Rd. I believe it It stays on the high land to
    North of Moseley Ferry today;
    although 200 years ago it seems to have descended SW down towards the
    aforementioned eastward bend in the Staunton River,
    where 1760s Moseley place and presumably near the Moseley Ferry site.
    Up on the high hill , just after it forks left from the part of Ferry Moseley
    Rd going West and staying up top,
    is a Hillery Moseley Jr cemetery near the modern huge power lines.
    Gerry Gilliom took me there about 31 Dec 1996. He was Mr. Charlotte Co history,
    but ca 2000 had a stroke tha tleft him in a wheel-chair and he had to go live
    where he had free care, a couple counties away from Charlotte Co.
    I think he's still alive and can talk about the history, but he can't write
    much; so I have just sent him a couple get-better cards,
    not tried to ask him about history.
    P.S. RE: 1996 land ownership
    a paper company or something owns the valley where 1760s Moseley land is
    So access from Red Oak area seems cut off to the public.
    The Ferry Moseley Rd approach was more satisfying, as no "keep out" signs
    but only foot travel was possible after the cemetery-Power Lines area. ;
