    Neill Adams McNeill, Sr, 78, passed away Sunday, November 18 at his home in Raeford. He was born in Raeford and graduated from Hoke County High School in 1948. He attended North Carolina State University for two years and graduated from Hardbarger Business College, Raleigh in senior accounting in 1952.

    After college, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he completed the Air Force School of Statistical Services, Denver, Colorado. He served in the Korean War (1952-1953). During his last two years in the Air Force he worked in the Statistical Services Division at Donaldson Air Force Based in Greenville, S.C.

    Following his military duty, he returned to Raeford and worked as a planner for Burlington Industries. He retired from Burlington after working 37 years in the Raeford Plant Planning Department. During his years at Burlington, he served as President of the Raeford Junior Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Raeford Lion?s Club, in which he served as an officer and chairman of many projects. In 1980 he received the Lion of the Year Award.

    He was a lifetime, faithful member of the Raeford Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon, elder, Men of the Church president, as well a member of many committees including the stewardship and music committees, which he chaired. In the summer of 2007, the Session and Congregation of Raeford Presbyterian Church honored him as Elder Emeritus.

    He loved photography(especially taking pictures of his grandchildren), classical music and Broadway musicals. He was also a surrogate father-figure to many of his wife?s students.

    The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November, 21 at 11a.m. at the Raeford Presbyterian Church, 128 West Edinborough Ave. Burial will follow in the Raeford Cemetery.

    Survivors are his wife of 49 years, Mary Archie Brown McNeill; his son, Neill A. McNeill, Jr. of Greensboro, N.C.; his daughter-in-law, Dr. Wendy Waters McNeill; and two granddaugthers, Margaret Adams (Meg) McNeill and Elizabeth Lentz McNeill; and three brothers, Edwin Lentz McNeill, James Luther McNeill, and Bobby Burns McNeill all of Raeford.
    Memorial may be made in his memory to the Raeford Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1570 Raeford, N.C. 28376
