  • Note:
Sebastian Klein, also called Bostian Cline, was born in Germany in 1724
and came to America aboard the ship "Robert and Alice" which lande at
Philadelphia 3September 1739 -- less than a year after Michael landed.
He was then aged 15 years. Most likely he joined Michael.
Altho there is no known documentary record that Sebastian was a son of
Moriz Klein, but there are two reasons that make it apparent that such
was the case. First, the folk lore of the early Kleinsrelated there were
three brothers who came to N.C. from Pa.: that one of themsettled in
what is now Cabarrus County while the others went west to what wasthen
    Lincoln County.
About the years 1760 and 1761 there was an uprising amoung the Indians in
Lincoln County and Sebastian brought his family back to Cabarrus County
(then Mecklenburg) for safety until the trouble subsided. It was during
this sojourn that Sebastian's wife gave birth to a son in 1761, who was
    given the name Michael Klein.
This son, Michael, has often been confused with his uncle Michael, who
settled in Mecklenburg County. Many persons have claimed that the
Cabarrus County Michael was a revolutionary soldier, because the records
show that a Michael Klein from Cabarrus County did serve in the
Revolution. However, the Pension records in Washington has the
application for pension which Michael filed and it states that he was
born in Cabarrus County, butlived in Lincoln County all his life. His
wife also filed for a widow's pension and her name was Fanny Killian.
Cabarrus County Michael was 60 years of ageat the time the Revolution
    started.
When Sebastian and his family returned to their home in Lincoln County
after the Indian trouble had subsided, on of his sons, David, decided
that he preferred to remain in Cabarrus County.
Sebastian was married in the 1740s to Elizabeth Bieber (Beaver), who was
born ca. 1720. His name does not appear in the 1790 Census and it is
presumed that he died before that date.
