    ============================

    John Pearce's marriage bond has is wife named Patricia Allen (crossed out). All other records name her Rebecca.

    It is believed that Rebecca Allen is buired in the Leonard Family Cemetery. There are many unmarked graves within the cemetery so it is difficult to know who is burried there. A Lenoard who lives near the cemetery, however, had a hand drawn map that was provided to him by another family member years ago.

    On this hand drawn map is a Becky Leonard and an unmarked grave, which appear next to their son's grave Bennett Leonard and his wife Nancy Pearce. Joe Pearce, a local historian an geneologist believes the unmarked grave on the map belongs to Rebecca's husband John Pearce, though we may never know.

    "I am convinced that Rebecca Allen Pearce is buired in the Leonard Cemetery that we visited behind Stanley Leonard's house. On the map of that cemetery, one grave is labelled 'Becky Leonard,' I think incorrectly. I think it should read 'Becky Pearce' since I know that Rebecca was living with her daughter Nancy Vincent Pearce and son-in-law Bennett H. Leonard when she died in 1869; and that is defenitely where Nancy and Bennett are buired. Besides, no one seems to know of anyone named 'Becky' Leonard. I think that the map should read 'Becky Pearce' and that the unmakred grave next to Becky's is probably her husband John Pearce who died in 1831" -- Joe Pearce, Louisburg, NC, June 5, 2008
