Calais and Woodland, Washington County --
Norman P. Sprague, 74, died July 12 1990, at a Calais nursing home. He was born June 25, 1916, at Charlotte, the son of Ralph and Augusta (Cushing) Sprague.
He was a Marine Corps Veteran of World War II and for 25 years served as the adjutant and commander of W.T. Wren Post No. 23, American Legion of Woodland. He was chief time-keeper at Georgia Pacific Corporation in Woodland and a member of the Quarter Century Club, retiring after 31 years of employment. He organized Office Union Local No. 295 and for many years served as its president. He also served as a representative for the International Office and Professional Union. For 20 years he was an officer and director of the St. Croix Federal Credit Union. He spent several years as a member and chairman for the "Original Planning Board" for the Town of Baileyville and for many years was the auditor for the People's United Methodist Church of Woodland.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Janice (Williams) Sprague of Calais;
one son and daughter-in-law, John N. and Marie Sprague of Calais;
three daughters, Sherri Newll of Calais,
Mrs. Fred (Linda) M. Wallace of Alexander, and
Mrs John (Jean) Fennell of England;
one brother, Leslie Sprague of Woodland;
two sisters, Winnie Leighton of Eastport and
Lydia Shain of Massachusetts;
10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, Calais, by Pastor David Wilson.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that those who wish may donate in his memory to the Woodland Baptist Church or to International Missions, care of Mrs. Jean Fennel, 11 B Apple jOrchard Lane, Calais 04619.
