  • Note: I doubt that she was the daughter of Richard JACKSON &his f irst wife, Dorothy BATE. They had a daughter Susannah wh o likely did not live long enough to be this Susan JACKSON . Dorothy BATE died in 1698, which would have made that Sus an Jackson 107 years old when she died in 1805. This is unl ikely. The one here - who married BARTON - is more likel y the daughter of Richard JACKSON & Elizabeth BOYD.

    NOTE: She was commonly described as "of Dublin". Hotwells i s a district of the City of Bristol, abt 1.6 kn west of Bri stol City Center.

    "Friday se'nnight, at her lodgings, Chapel Row, Hotwells, B ristol, at a very advanced age, Mrs. Barton, of Forkhill, C o. Armagh, Ireland, relict of Edward Barton, esq, eldest Li eutenant in Sir Philip Honeywood's Black Horse, which serve d with distinction in Flanders, during the war of 1744.

      JACKSON had a manor in Forkhill and the manor of Castle Ham ilton in Co. Cavan. He also gives money to Ann BOYD of Wexf ord and after herdecease to her nephew, his godson. He als o made a donation to Armagh Infirmary ? for the good of m y poor fellow creatures who are destroyed by the advice o f Quack Doctors?. Nichola Ann JACKSON was living in the tow nland of Carrickasticken (where the manor of Forkhill was l ocated).
