    Nathaniel Alexander (1760 - 21 Oct 1840), was an Anglican B ishop in Ireland during the first half of the 19th century.
    He was born in 1760 and educated at Harrow and Emmanuel Co llege, Cambridge. He was appointed Bishop of Clonfert and K ilmacduagh in 1802 and translated to Killaloe in 1804. Onl y six months later he became Bishop of Down and Connor. H e was translated for a third time to Meath in 1823. A nephe w of James Alexander, 1st Earl of Caledon and uncle of a fu ture Archbishop of Armagh [SEE NEXT], he died in post on 2 1 Oct 1840

      Text: In a document dated 16th of March 1803 Mrs. Susanna Barto n transferredownership of the Manor of Forkhill to Franci s Dobbs Esq. and the RightHonorable the Lord Bishop of Clon fort, afterwards to become the LordBishop of Meath. This ge ntleman was the Right Rev. Nathaniel AlexanderD.D. P.C. H e was born 12 August 1760 on the 18th May 1785 married Anne daughter of the Right Honorable Richard Jackson MP for Cole raine. Shedied in August 1837, and he died 21st of Octobe r 1840. Their son HenryAlexander of Forkhill House -- Hig h Sheriff for County Armagh, 1856,and Barrister at law, wa s born on the 16 February 1803. He marriedLouisa Juliana, s econd daughter of Thomas, second Earl of Ranfurly.Henry die d on the 1st December 1877, Louisa Juliana died on the last day of March 1896. They had two sons, Granville Henry Jacks on ofForkhill (still referred to locally as Captain Alexand er) and HenryNathaniel, Inspector General of prisons, Bomba y.

      Text: The Right Honourable and Right Reverend Nathaniel Alexande r (1760-1840) was Robert's son. He married Anne, daughter o f Rt. Hon. Richard Jackson and Anne O'Neill, on 18 May 1785 ; was educated atHarrow; graduated from Cambridge Universit y with a Doctorate of Divinity (DD). He lived at Portglenon e in County Antrim, which he built and took up residence th ere in 1800; held the office of Lord Bishop of Meath; was i nvested as a Privy Councillor.
