    Wray - On the 23rd inst., at his residence, No. 4 Clifton-p lace, Monkstown, Dublin, in his 78th year, Captain H.B. Wra y. He served as lieutenant in the 40th Regiment in the Peni nsular War, also at Waterloo. After a long illness he die d in the Lord, much respected and lamented. Funeral will le ave at 10 o'clock on to-morrow (Thursday) morning for Dean' s Grange Cemetery,

    Grave in Deansgrange Cemetery, Kill o' the Grange, Co. Dubl in. Go through main gates to turning circle, turn left, clo se to Memorial Chapel, left. Inscriptions are difficult t o read. I have photo in file of original grave when cemeter y was new, before main gates were moved.

    "Hugh Boyd Wray, who in the Census return of 1821, is descr ibed as aged 25, an officer on half pay. In 1823 Hugh Boy d Wray married Anne daughter of Francis Biddulph (Ossory Ma rriage Licence Bonds). It was on 23rd January 1811 that Hug h Boyd was gazetted Ensign in the 40th Regiment and Lieuten ant on the 10th September 1812. He did not rise above tha t rank though he served in the Peninsula and at Waterloo. H e retired on half pay 25 March 1817. His name appears in Da lton's Waterloo Roll Call among those who received that med al.
    ...Miss Sibthorpe remembered hearing that Hugh Boyd Wray se rved as Chief Constable for the King's County, and she ha d seen his truncheon...only one child, a son, named Jackson , who entered the Army as an Ensign in the 88th Regiment, t he Connaught Rangers, in 1847...served on the West Indian a nd North American Stations.
