Text: Mother's mother Sarah Park was married on 22 January 183 9 - the sameday as her sister Mary Bush PARKE - to Lt.Georg e Julius DARE RoyalNavy at Rondabosch Church St. Paul's o n the same day as he [?] sailedto England from Cape Town i n the Addington and sighted an abandonedship [? ?] Cork Har bor and much salvage money.
After the death of her husband Grandmother returned to th e Cape withall her children except the two eldest Georg e & Julius who went toSingapore. From a letter by and Eliz a Ball née Park. Written bymother's cousin Lizzy Arbuthno t née Park. Willie Ball Wright foundmarriage register of Ni cholas Talmach and Mary Ralph both of thisparish Suffolk s[ Skerrington?] 19 December 1707.
These are undoubtedly the parents of our ancestors John Tal mach, andthey had a daughter Elizabeth Ralph at [Springleto n] in 1708 and ourancestor John was baptized in next paris h Thereshead in 1710. Know wasthis Nicholas William who sec retly married a farmer's daughter, or washe the son of [?]c ousin Elizabeth Bacon[?] a secret marriage. That isthe on e thing we want to find out. My sister Jessie is in Englan d andshe tells me that the story as she heard it was Willia m lives in [?]on his mother's estate and could not marry i n his own class andsecretly married a farmer's daughter. Hi s mother was very fond of hischildren and looked after the m and promised to see them righted, butcould do nothing a s long as William lived and died first. It isstrange John s on of Nicholas and Mary had no son called Nicholas. Hiselde st was William Th Ralph [?].
