      Lionel Tollemache, 4th Earl of Dysart KT (1 May 17081770) , styledLord Huntingtower from 1712 to 1727, was a Scottis h nobleman.

      In 1729, he was elected High Steward of Ipswich.

      He married Lady Grace Carteret, eldest daughter of John Car teret, 1stEarl Granville, by whom he had sixteen children:

      Hon. George Tollemache (14 March 1744 13 November 1760) , joined theRoyal Navy and was drowned on a voyage to Lisbo n after falling fromthe mizzen topmast head of HMS Modeste.

      Capt. Hon. John Tollemache (30 March 1750 25 September 17 77),married Lady Bridget Henley, daughter of Robert Henley , 1st Earl ofNorthington, on 3 December 1773, and had one s on. The captain of HMSZebra, Tollemache was killed in a due l in New York City with Lt-Col.Pennington over a sonnet wri tten by the latter, reflecting on LadyBridget's wit. Tollem ache was run through the heart, and Penningtonreceived seve n wounds and nearly died.
      Ens. Lionel Robert Tollemache (10 November 1774 14 July 1 793),commissioned an ensign in the Coldstream Guards on 2 8 January 1791,killed at the siege of Valenciennes, withou t issue.

      In 1743, Dysart was appointed a Knight of the Thistle. He w asapparently very parsimonious towards his eldest son, wh o marriedCharlotte Walpole in 1760 without his father's kno wledge.[1]

      Upon his death in 1770, he was succeeded as earl by his eld est sonLionel.
